Start with a quick morning skincare routine to prep your skin before makeup. A simple skincare base helps hydrate, smooth, and protect your skin so makeup applies better and lasts longer. Like every building, makeup needs a strong foundation—that’s why skincare is so important. While makeup can cover acne and scars, it’s best to let your skin breathe when possible, especially during breakouts.
Primer for a Smooth Makeup Base
After skincare, apply primer. Primer helps even out skin texture, smooth the surface, and give your makeup better grip so it lasts longer throughout the day. If you’re using BB cream, you may skip this step, but primer is highly recommended for a flawless base. Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer with Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide is a good one to use. It does a good job at providing a base for my makeup to hold on to, but it doesn't feel too sticky. It grips makeup perfectly and your face doesn’t dry with it.

If you prefer something light and more effortless, you ca use BB cream. I use the Missha BB Cream because it gives a youthful, smooth, natural finish. It makes the skin look healthy, fresh, and glowy without feeling heavy.

Natural Finish Foundation Routine
Next is foundation. Choose a lightweight, natural-finish foundation that enhances your skin while still looking soft, fresh, and breathable for an everyday makeup look. I recommend Make Up For Ever HD Skin Foundation because it gives great coverage while still making the skin look smooth, glowy, and natural. It creates a flawless finish without feeling heavy, so your skin still looks like skin.
No Concealer or Bronzer
To keep the makeup look soft and natural, I usually skip concealer, bronzer, and eyeshadow for my everyday routine. A lighter makeup base can make your skin appear fresher and more effortless.
For bronzer, it really depends on where you live, as some countries prefer a more natural, lighter makeup style where bronzer isn’t commonly used. Instead, many people choose to keep their complexion fresh and soft without heavy contouring.
Minimal Eyeshadow
When it comes to eyeshadow, it is still used, but neutral shades are the most popular choice. Soft colors like beige, light brown, taupe, and subtle pinks work best for creating a natural, everyday makeup look that enhances your features without looking too heavy or dramatic.
Natural, Clean Looking Brows
Make sure you keep your brows as natural as possible. Use a brow gel to gently shape and set them for a soft, natural sculpted look.
Cream Blush for a Glowy Look
Next is blush. Start with a cream blush for a natural glow underneath the makeup. I like using Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand in Pillowtalk, then setting it with a powder blush on top so it lasts longer throughout the day. For powder blush, NARS Blush in Orgasm is a beautiful soft pink shade that gives a healthy, radiant glow and brightens the face naturally.
Lip Care for Smooth Lips
Then, focus on your lips. Lip care is important if you want your makeup to look clean and polished. Use a lip scrub to remove dry skin and keep your lips soft and smooth. A toothbrush alone usually isn’t enough to fully exfoliate the lips.
After doing your lip care, you can use a neutral or nude lipstick. I use the Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick because it gives such a pretty soft matte finish that looks natural and effortless.
