SHEGLAM Review: Can You Trust SHEIN’s Makeup Brand?

Trying Budget Food vs Budget Beauty

It’s kind of like buying food from the Dollar Store, which I’ve done before just to try it and see how much you can actually save. The pizza honestly tasted like cardboard, and it’s something I would never buy again. I probably wouldn’t even get the soda for $1 there, even though it’s the same price you’d sometimes find at a regular grocery store.

For anyone who doesn’t know, the Dollar Store is a place that sells a variety of items at very low prices, often around $1. No offense to the Dollar Store—I’m sure there are people who like it and even a trend of buying makeup from there—but after that pizza experience, I just don’t trust it.

Can You Trust SHEGLAM?

So, some people who are used to buying expensive skincare and makeup products are probably wondering: can you trust SHEGLAM from the SHEIN line?

It’s basically about using very affordable makeup products on your face, which naturally makes some people question the quality and safety. Someone even asked me, “Is it okay to use it on your lips?”

I would say it’s absolutely okay to use.

Of course, like with any beauty product, it’s always important to check the ingredients, do a patch test if you have sensitive skin, and use products as they’re intended.

My Experience With SHEGLAM

I’ve personally purchased and used SHEGLAM products, and I think the packaging is surprisingly well made. It feels just like many other makeup brands, except you're paying a fraction of the price. Another bonus is that SHEGLAM products are cruelty-free and vegan.

I have light beige skin with oily skin, so finding makeup that lasts throughout the day can be a challenge. After trying several products, I found a few that work particularly well for my skin type. If you have a similar complexion and struggle with excess oil, you can use the recommendations below as a helpful starting guide for building your makeup routine.

Price vs Quality

But the price isn’t so cheap that it makes you question the quality. In fact, it can perform similarly to many drugstore brands—the main difference is that SHEGLAM is mostly online-only.

It has a wide range of products that cater to trendy, natural, and everyday makeup looks. The pricing is very affordable, and the performance is surprisingly good, which is why a lot of people consider it one of the better places to buy budget-friendly makeup.

I think it’s perfect for people who are trying to save money or for students who are young and don’t have a lot of funding.

You have to think of it this way—you’re not buying cheap makeup. You’re buying trend makeup on demand. The brand is really fast at releasing products that match what’s popular right now, like clean girl skin, soft glam, glossy lips, and blush-heavy looks.

And the price? That’s the biggest psychological trap—in a good way. It’s low enough that you don’t feel guilty experimenting. You can literally try a full routine without spending the price of just one high-end foundation.

Another underrated point is the variety. They don’t just copy basic drugstore products. You’ll find things like white inner corner liners, liquid blush “hacks,” and products inspired by douyin and Korean-style makeup looks. It’s very trend-driven, not boring at all.

Not every product is going to wow you or become a holy grail—and that’s fine. The price isn’t something you’re really gambling a lot on. A foundation isn’t going to cost you $60–$80, so you’re just trying something new for the price of a coffee without overthinking it.

SHEIN Code / Product List

If you go to SHEIN and type "939AP" into the search bar, you'll find my curated list of makeup, outfits, and nails that I've personally picked out.

At the end of the day, I don't think SHEGLAM is "cheap makeup" in the negative sense. It's affordable makeup that follows trends quickly and makes beauty accessible to more people.

Is every product a winner? No. But that's true for expensive brands too.

If you're a student, on a budget, or simply enjoy experimenting with new makeup trends without spending a fortune, SHEGLAM is worth trying. Just remember to check ingredients, patch test if you have sensitive skin, and choose products that fit your needs.

Would I buy from SHEGLAM again? Yes.
